Online anniversary concert: 120 years of Ernst Krenek – 250 years of Ludwig van Beethoven

News from the Institute

We would have very much preferred to welcomed you personally to our anniversary concert in honor of Ernst Krenek’s 120th birthday and of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday on 5 November 2020 in the Minoritenkirche in Krems! Unfortunately, current developments made it necessary for us to change our plans on rather short notice.

Now that you cannot come to us, we are simply bringing the concert to you!
And the big advantage: you can stay comfortably seated on your sofa, you don’t have to wear a face mask, and you can even enjoy a good glass of wine during the concert. (As an avowed wine connoisseur, Ernst Krenek would certainly have approved.) It is indeed only meager compensation, but in any case better than no concert at all. So let’s concentrate on the positive aspects!

As of now a video version of the anniversary concert with the Minetti Quartet is available on our website.

Until 31 December 2020 you have time to hear two extraordinary string quartets by the two birthday boys. Moreover, you can also read the introductory remarks by Clemens Zoidl.

We would like to thank State Minister Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister, who on behalf of Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, conveyed a video message to us. And we were very happy about the opening remarks from Doris Denk, director of the cultural affairs department of the city of Krems!

We owe a special debt of gratitude to the Minetti Quartet, which was able to jump in on short notice.

So let us brave the circumstances and celebrate the anniversary year 2020 together!
